Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,

Good evening!

It is my great pleasure to welcome all of you to join us in celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to friends from all walks of life for your longstanding support for China’s development and diplomacy.

This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Over the past century, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people in achieving national independence and prosperity. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has risen from poverty to the world’s second-largest economy, and has achieved the miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, and is marching confidently toward its Second Centenary Goal.

This year also kicks off China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan. It is not only a blueprint for China’s domestic development, but also an agenda for international cooperation. For years, China has contributed around 30 percent of global economic growth annually, making it a major engine of global growth. It has also been a major trading partner for more than 160 countries and regions. China’s development brings opportunities to the world, while Chinese modernization will bring greater stability and certainty to global peace and development.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

This year commemorates the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations. For more than half a century, China has consistently upheld the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and safeguarded the international system with the UN at its core. We remain a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order.

The world today is confronted with growing deficits in peace, development, security and governance. President Xi Jinping has put forward the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity, together with the Global Initiatives on Development, Security, Governance and Civilization exchange. Aligned with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the vision and initiatives offer Chinese wisdom and solutions to address global challenges and advance common development.

As one of the four UN headquarters, Vienna plays a unique role for international peace and security, and for global development. The Four Global Initiatives resonate deeply with Vienna’s multilateral agenda. As the largest developing country and a key member of the Global South, China actively engages in Vienna multilateral platforms, and works with all partners across a wide range of areas, including industrial development, peaceful uses of nuclear energy and outer space, arms control and non-proliferation, trade law, combating drugs and crime, and anti‑corruption. Our cooperation with Vienna-based international organizations continues to deepen.

In April this year, the Group of Friends of Global Governance Vienna Chapter was launched at China’s initiative. It serves as a significant mechanism to build consensus and advance global governance reform.

Ten days ago, China presented the UN with the lunar sample first-ever collected from the far side of the Moon by the Chang’e‑6 mission. The sample will be on permanent display at the VIC. This tangible contribution reflects China’s commitment to building a community with a shared future for humanity, and its preparedness to share the fruits of development and work with all parties to improve global governance.

Dear Friends,

As the saying goes: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” China stands ready to work with all parties to uphold true multilateralism and turn the Four Global Initiatives into concrete action. Together, we can advance the cause of peace and development through the UN. Together, we can promote human progress. And together, we can move closer to a community with a shared future for humanity.
