The current situation on the Korean Peninsula remains complex and sensitive, ridden with uncertainties and destabilizing factors. Developments have fully demonstrated that military threats, sanctions, and pressure will only intensify conflicts and heighten tensions; only dialogue, engagement, and move towards each other can ease the situation and rebuild mutual trust. All parties should have the general interest in mind, keep calm and exercise restraint, avoid the deterioration and escalation of the situation, and ensure that the peninsula issue is not derailed from the track of political settlement. The relevant party shall truly shoulder its part of the responsibilities, and demonstrate its sincerity through concrete actions.
As a close neighbour of the Peninsula, China has always paid close attention to the development of the situation on the Peninsula, and is committed to maintaining peace, stability and prosperity on the Peninsula, and has always been striving for the political settlement of the Peninsula issue. China calls on relevant parties to desist from an approach based on aggressive deterrence and coercion, and play a constructive role in resolving the Korean Peninsula issue through political means and realizing lasting peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
