(January 20, 2026,VIC)
Mr Chair,
I would like to congratulate you on assuming the rotating chair of the G77 and China Vienna Chapter for 2026. I would like to once again express our deep appreciation for your predecessor Amb. Makoloo and his team, for their important contribution to the work of our group. I assure you my team and I will actively support your work. We are confident that, with your leadership, G77 and China will continue to have a strong voice on Vienna multilateral platforms, play more active role for the Global South and effectively safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
As the international landscape experiences instabilities and transformation, and multilateralism faces headwinds, it is more imperative for us to enhance solidarity, jointly fight against unilateralism, hegemonism and bullying, and join hands to build a more just and equitable international order. The G77 and China is the pillar for defending multilateralism and the driving force for better global governance, and our role is indispensable for international affairs. As the largest developing country in the world, China always shares the same destiny with the Global South and stands firmly with the G77 in upholding international fairness and justice and promoting common development.
Looking ahead to the new year, China stands ready to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the G77 member states, actively participate in and strongly support all multilateral business in Vienna, practice true multilateralism, firmly uphold the authority and role of the United Nations, actively implement the four global initiatives on global development, security, governance and civilization exchanges, proposed by President Xi Jinping, carry out the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
I, thank you.
