Mr. Chairman,

In recent years, there has been no substantive progress in the work related to the Syrian nuclear issue under the framework of the IAEA. Under this circumstance, China believes that it is of no practical significance for the Board to continue to list the issue as an item for discussion. Therefore, China supports the proposal of relevant countries to no longer list this issue as an agenda item of the Board of Governors meetings.

At the same time, China encourages Syria to earnestly fulfill its obligations under the safeguards agreement and continue to strengthen cooperation with the Agency.
