On November 27, the 60th anniversary celebration of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. The event was attended by Permanent Representatives from Members States and senior officials from international organizations in Vienna. Ambassador Li Song, Permanent Representative of China in Vienna was also in attendance.

In their speeches, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA and Qu Dongyu, Director General of the FAO, expressed gratitude to Member States for their support of the Joint Centre. They emphasized the extensive applications of nuclear science and technology in food and agriculture, highlighting the broad prospects for international cooperation. They also stated that the 60th anniversary of the Joint Centre marks an opportunity to continue maximizing its role and making greater contributions to helping countries address food security challenges. Prof. Liu Luxiang, Executive Director General of the Institute of Crop Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was invited to participate in a panel discussion, where he shared success stories and China's experiences in supporting the Global South by using nuclear technology for agricultural development.
