On May 15, Ambassador Li Song met with new UNOV Director-General/UNODC Executive Director Ms. Monica Juma.

Ambassador LI Song stated that, under the current complex and volatile international situation, the UN has come to a new crossroads. Member states and the international community look forward to revitalizing the UN, advocating true multilateralism, and jointly addressing global challenges. The vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the four global initiatives, proposed by President Xi Jinping, are highly consistent with the purposes and goals of the UN, and have received positive responses from the international community. China stands ready to further deepen communication and cooperation with the UNOV and UNODC, making new contributions to advancing the UN’s cause of peace and development and steering global governance toward a more just and equitable direction.
Juma expressed gratitude for China’s firmly support for the UN’s cause and multilateralism, spoke highly of China’s visions and initiatives, and said she looked forward to continuously deepening practical cooperation with China to jointly advance and revitalize the role of the UN.
