On November 10, the 65th Session of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (hereinafter referred to as “the Treaty”) was held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. Ambassador Li Song, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, attended the meeting and elaborated on China’s position.

Li Song pointed out that the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative provide Chinese wisdom and solutions for addressing the root causes of international conflicts and achieving lasting peace and stability in the world. China is willing to work together with the international community to practice true multilateralism and uphold the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime, including the Treaty.

China firmly upholds the purposes and objectives of the Treaty, strictly observes its commitment to a moratorium on nuclear testing, and strongly opposes the United States’ deliberate distortions and false accusations regarding China’s nuclear policy. China urges the U.S. to earnestly fulfill its obligations under the Treaty and its commitment to a moratorium on nuclear testing, and to take concrete actions to safeguard the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime.

Li Song also briefed the meeting on the outcomes of the recent visit to China by Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission’s Provisional Technical Secretariat.
