On September 10, the IAEA Board of Governors discussed the positive developments in the cooperation between Iran and the IAEA Secretariat on the resumption of safeguards implementation. Ambassador Li Song, China’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, comprehensivelyelaborated on China’s position and called on all parties to further intensify diplomatic efforts.

Ambassador Li stated that, military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iranian nuclear facilities in June this year severely undermined diplomatic efforts on the Iranian nuclear issue and seriously disrupted Iran's cooperation with IAEA on safeguards.China firmly opposes hegemonism and bullying practices, and remains committed to promoting dialogue, encouraging negotiations, and facilitating communication.China clearly opposes the attempts by the E3 (France, the United Kingdom, and Germany) on the “snapback”. Such actions do nothing to rebuild trust and could lead to disastrous consequences.

Ambassador Li pointed out that, Global Governance Initiative and Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping are of great significance to the proper resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. China calls on all relevant parties to commit to real diplomacy.
