On June 25, the China National Space Administration and the Permanent Mission of China to Vienna held the "20 Years of China Lunar Exploration Program" Exhibition in Vienna at the margins of the 68th Session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. The lunar samples from both near side and far side of the moon collected during the Chang'e-5 and Chang'e-6 missions were exhibited at the United Nations for the first time.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Ambassador Li Song actively promoted the concept of building a community with a shared future for humankind and the three major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, as well as the lunar exploration spirit of "Dreams, Courage, Collaboration, and win-win Cooperation".
The event was attended by more than 200 people including the director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, Aarti Holla-Maini, the chairman of the Vienna chapter of the "G77+China", the Kenyan ambassador Maurice Makoloo, the South African ambassador Rapulane Molekane, and envoys from the European Union, Serbia, the Philippines and other countries. Participants highly praised China's achievements in space and looked forward to deepening space cooperation with China. China's lunar samples caused a sensation at the United Nations in Vienna. Guests observed the lunar samples with great interest and took photos.
