The United Nations in ‌Vienna Hosted Events for International Day of Dialogue Among Civilizations

On June 10, the Permanent Mission of China to Vienna and the United Nations Office at Vienna jointly hosted the events for the "International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations" at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna.

Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a video address. Ghada Waly, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, and Ambassador Mohammad Kamran Akhtar Malik, Permanent Representative of Pakistan, representing the members of the core group of the UN General Assembly Resolution on the "International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations", delivered remarks highly praising China's significant role in promoting dialogue among civilizations. Austrian sinologist Richard Trappl shared his reflections on mutual learning and exchanges among civilizations. In his remarks, Ambassador Li Song, Permanent Representative of China to UN and other International Organizations in Vienna, elaborated the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. He emphasized China is willing to work with all parties, foster true multilateralism through dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations, and actively engage in multilateral cooperation in various fields on the multilateral platform in Vienna.

During the events, an exhibition entitled “The Declaration of Civilization: A Beautiful Scolling Paint of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind” was held, and the China National Traditional Orchestra staged a splendid cultural performance.
