The Chinese delegation listened carefully to the briefing delivered by Director General Grossi at the beginning of today’s meeting. We support the statements made by Iran, Russia, and other IAEA Member States. China condemns Israel’s military actions against Iran and opposes any armed attack on peaceful nuclear facilities. We remain firmly committed to promoting a peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, and we oppose the use of force and illegal unilateral sanctions. China will continue to maintain close coordination with all parties and work together to address the matter of an urgent character in the IAEA Board of Governors.
China is seriously concerned about the negative impact of the current developments on the prospects for diplomatic negotiations. We call on the relevant countries to refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation. China supports the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, and will continue to uphold a highly responsible, objective, and impartial position to jointly supporting political and diplomatic efforts concerning the Iranian nuclear issue, firmly safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, and maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.
