Good morning.

Today I'm honored to meet with you in this beautiful city Vienna at the 60th IAEA General Conference. Please allow me, on behalf of the Chinese government and CNNC, the host for this side meeting, to extend warm welcome to all the guests and friends here. I'd also like to thank all the personnel who have been working hard to ensure this meeting to be smoothly held.

The IAEA General Conference is a grand gathering among 168 countries who pledged to peacefully use the atomic energy around the world. This year's theme is Peace, Development and Benefitting Mankind, which are precisely the ideas held by China for long-term nuclear energy development.

As a member state, China has been developing the nuclear energy to benefit the people and make contributions to the world's nuclear cause. In over six decades of development, China's nuclear industry has established a complete and independent industrial system, having realized independent and scale development with a high-level team on nuclear scientific research, design, construction and operation. We indigenously designed the third generation of nuclear power technology, HPR 1000. The project of the first HPR1000 reactor in China and overseas is proceeding smoothly. Small multi-function reactor design ACP100 has met the requirement for construction. In the meantime, China's experimental fast reactor is performing well. Advanced nuclear energy systems, such as the nuclear fusion device, have seen positive progress. The overall capacity of nuclear fuel cycle has improved greatly. Nuclear technology application areas have been continuously expanding, the process of industrialization has been accelerating, social and economic benefits have enhanced significantly. On the premise of ensuring good quality and safety and based on its domestic nuclear energy development, China can provide integrated solutions for nuclear related industries.

After this side meeting, you will have a more comprehensive knowledge of CNNC, the main force of China's nuclear power development and construction, the sole nuclear company with actual exported nuclear power projects in China as well as its complete industrial chain. On each specific topic, you'll hear the introduction by our experts on ACP100 and get to know its safe and economical features. Also we wish to get the feedbacks from you to help us with the improvement of our technology.

Peaceful use of nuclear energy is a common cause shared by mankind, requiring a closer cooperation for common development. China continues to expand its opening up of nuclear field to the outside world. We actively participate in the activities of the IAEA, conduct extensive communications and cooperation with many countries to promote the development of nuclear technology, nuclear safety and the nuclear industry. We have formed an all-round cooperation and communication mechanism for mutual benefit. We are willing to share our experience and achievements with other countries to sustain the healthy growth of nuclear energy.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's not forget what we pledged to do and take this General Conference and this side meeting as an opportunity to join hands and march ahead.
