My delegation takes note of the DG's remarks on the implementation of safeguards in the DPRK and supports the agency to play its due role in this regard.

Properly addressing the Koran Peninsula Nuclear Issue concerns peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and is both in the common interest and a shared responsibility of the parties concerned. it is our view that only in addressing both the symptom and root causes of the issue and the concerns of various parties in a balanced manner in a comprehensive approach can a undamental solution be found. the six-party talks remains a realistic and effective path to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.

Currently the peninsular situation remains complex and sensitive and its future direction uncertain. The parties concerned should keep their eye on the big picture and the long run, adhere to the spirit of the September 19 joint statement, and persevere in pushing forward the six-party talks process in order to set in motion a sustainable, irreversible and effective process of dialog on the Korean Peninsula Nuclear Issue.

China adheres to the goal of the denuclearization of and maintenance of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and resolving the issue through dialog and consultation. China stands ready to join the international community in playing a key role in preserving peninsular peace and stability and properly addressing the relevant issues.
