2015-09-09 21:00

Madam Chairperson,

The Chinese delegation takes note of the report by the Director-General on the Application of Safeguards in the DPRK and supports IAEA to continue its due role in this respect.

Madam Chairperson,

A proper solution to the Korean Peninsula Nuclear Issue is a matter that relates to the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and North East Asia, and it is therefore the joint responsibility of all relevant parties. China has a clear and consistent position on the Korean Peninsula. We stand for the maintenance of peace and stability and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula and a negotiated settlement through dialogue.

The comprehensive agreement reached on the Iranian Nuclear Issue is a win-win result that is beneficial to all parties. The interested parties should fully apply the successful experience of the Iranian Nuclear Talk to an effective solution to the DPRK Nuclear Issue and work towards achieving its progress.

Madam Chairperson,

Though the general situation on the Korean Peninsula remains stable, the basis for detente is still fragile. The future development remains unstable and uncertain. The interested parties should take into account the general interest and think for the long term. Caution and restraint should be exercised and more needs to be done to ease the tension, create enabling atmosphere for dialogue so as to achieve an early return of the Korean Peninsula Nuclear Issue back to the negotiating table.

China believes that the solution to the DPRK Nuclear Issue should stick to the general direction of dialogue, consultation and balancing the concerns of all parties. The Six-Party Talks is still a alistic and effective mechanism to achieve denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. China is ready to work with the interested parties to further advance the process of the Six-Party Talks and make constructive effort to achieve a lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.

Thank you, Madam Chairperson.
