China Actively Advances Cooperation on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy with Africa

On May 6th, H.E. Ambassador LI Song met with H.E. Mr. Belete Molla, chairman of the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA), the Minister of Innovation and Technology of Ethiopia, to exchange views on China-Africa cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

H.E. Ambassador LI said that the peaceful use of nuclear energy was included in the outcome document of the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC      last year for the first time, opening a new chapter of solidarity and cooperation in the Global South. China will actively implement the outcome document and action plan of the Beijing Summit, deepen practical cooperation with African countries, jointly advocate and actively promote "Atoms for Global South", and work together to implement the concept of Building a Community with a Shared Future For Mankind and the Three Global Initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping.

H.E. Mr. Belete Molla highly appreciated the concept of "Atoms for Global South" initiated by China and is willing to work with China to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, make good use of the platform of the IAEA and the advantages of all parties, continuously expand exchanges and cooperation between African countries and China, and provide more public goods and services for African countries.
