Ambassador LI Song Attended the International Awards Ceremony for Innovative Water Research

On November 8, 11th Awards Ceremony of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) was held in Vienna. Speeches were given by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Saudi Minster of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Council Chairman of the PSIPW, and Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).

PSIPW is one of the most influential awards in the field of international innovative water research and aims to inspire the scientific community to make unremitting efforts to solve the global water crisis. This year’s winners were selected from more than 400 participating scientist teams around the world, including Professor Zhiguo He’s team (Zhejiang University, China), Professor Chunmiao Zheng’s team (Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, China), Professor Joseph Hun-wei Lee’s team (Macau University of Science and Technology, China), and Professor Qiuhua Liang’s team (Loughborough University, UK), as well as scientific teams from the United States and Italy.

Ambassador Li Song, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizationsin Vienna, attended the ceremony and warmly congratulated the winner teams. Ambassador Li stressed that among the six winner teams, three are from China and one is Chinese. This is a milestone for Chinese scientists to reach the peak of science and technology in the field of innovative water, and is the pride of all Chinese people. Ambassador Li highlighted that President Xi Jinping, with a strategic vision for the realization of sustainable development of the Chinese nation and long-term national stability, has personally planned, deployed, and promoted water management, providing fundamental guidance for water management in the new era. China's water management has achieved a series of important achievementsrecognized by the world. China is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other countries around the world, actively implement the three global initiatives proposed by President Xi, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
