On September 27, Ambassador LI Song invited the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN countries in Vienna to the Permanent Mission of China to bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassador Vilawan Mangklatanakul, the Permanent Representative of Thailand. The event was attended by the Ambassadors of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and the Philippines, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Permanent Mission of Singapore.
All parties spoke highly of the positive and constructive role played by China and ASEAN countries at the Vienna multilateral platform. They believed that the two sides have broad prospects for further strengthening communication, exchanges, and cooperation in safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation regime and promoting international development cooperation.
The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on issues such as advancing the common interests of the countries of the Global South, the long-term international monitoring of Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated water in Fukushima, and the AUKUS cooperation in Naval Nuclear Propulsion.
