On September 27, Ambassador LI Song came to the Permanent Mission of Hungary in Vienna to attend the first China-EU informal exchange with Permanent Representatives of the European Union and its member states on multilateral affairs in Vienna.
Ambassador Li pointed out that the Vienna multilateral platform has unique advantages in maintaining world peace and security, as well as promoting international development cooperation. There is bright prospect for cooperation between China and the EU in Vienna. He shared China's positions and efforts on advocating for "Atoms for the Global South" and promoting the long-term international monitoring of Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated water in Fukushima. The two sides also exchanged views on the work of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and international drug control cooperation.
The EU ambassadors stated that they attach great importance to this dialogue and look forward to strengthening communication and cooperation with the Chinese Permanent Mission in Vienna. Both sides believed that the dialogue was productive and expressed hope for further dialogues with a view to jointly uphold the "Vienna Spirit" of consensus and promote multilateral causes in Vienna.
