On 4 September, the Permanent Mission of China to the UN and other International Organizations in Vienna hosted a special reception themed “Friendship Cooperation Development” celebrating the 2024 FOCAC Summit. Permanent representatives and diplomats from African countries as well as representatives of Vienna-based international organizations attended the reception.

In his remarks, Ambassador Li Song noted that the 2024 FOCAC summit will draw a new blueprint for the development of China-Africa relations，and write a new chapter of solidarity and cooperation of the Global South.  He pointed out that Vienna is an important platform for demonstrating the spirit of FOCAC, promoting practical cooperation between China and Africa, and enhancing international development cooperation for the benefit of the Global South. He expressed that as a natural member of the Global South, China would always stand by African countries and the Global South, continuing to make China’s contribution to Vienna agenda for international development cooperation. 

The reception was in a friendly and warm atmosphere. All parties spoke highly of China-Africa friendship and the constructive role China has played in the Vienna multilateral platform, and are full of expectations to jointly promote international development cooperation with China.
